How ACoS Reduction Can Support Profit Instead of Just Sales
A lower ACoS does not automatically mean an Amazon business is healthier. A seller could reduce advertising dramatically and watch sales fall with it. The useful goal is to improve the relationship between advertising cost, sales volume, product margins, and overall business performance.
This is how we approach accounts at 10XCommerce. Our team looks at the commercial purpose behind each advertising decision rather than treating a low percentage as the only objective, amazon advertising services are most useful when connected to broader account economics.
A realistic example involved a home goods seller whose ACoS had reached 65%. Management wanted it below 30% immediately. Our first response was to examine contribution margins.
Several products had different cost structures. A 35% ACoS was acceptable for one product but damaging for another. Applying one target to every SKU would have produced the wrong decisions.
We separated products according to their financial role and reviewed advertising performance accordingly.
Amazon Brand Management Agencies Must Understand Commercial Goals
The brand also had products designed to introduce customers to the wider product range. Those products did not need to be judged exactly like mature products with established demand.
Our amazon brand management services team helped connect product roles with the broader brand strategy.
After restructuring the account, management could see which products were being used for acquisition, which were expected to produce direct profit, and which required tighter spending controls.
That distinction matters for sellers trying to move from a very high ACoS toward a healthier figure.
A seller should know the acceptable advertising cost for each important product rather than choosing a single number simply because another seller or agency uses it.
ACoS is a measurement. Profitability is the business objective.
